About us

We believe in the power of food: the connection of friendship forged through a shared meal, the ability that food has to nurture and to heal, to celebrate and comfort, the common language  that is cooking and eating, a fluency shared the world over.

Samantha has been working in kitchens since her first job as a dishwasher at The MacDowell Colony (now MacDowell) when she was 14. Really, though, her passion for cooking and feeding her loved ones was born much earlier, rolling gingerbread cookie dough and working in the garden alongside of her beloved grandmother. Samantha has a particular excitement for exploring the world through cultural cuisine, and is fascinated by the melding of cultures through ingredients and technique. She is a dedicated supporter of local food and seasonal, sustainable cooking and eating. Most recently, Samantha ran the Harrisville General Store and, with Silas, has catered meals for many fabulous occasions throughout the Monadnock Region.

Silas’ dedication to ethical food production runs deep as a third-generation New Hampshire farmer. He spent many years of his career working alongside his family at Sunnyfield Farm in Peterborough, raising grass-fed milk and beef, pork, chicken and lamb. His passion for cooking springs from his deep commitment to treating our food with respect throughout the entire process- quite literally from farm to table. Silas is also a talented builder and attended the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport, Maine.

Samantha and Silas have four children; Ezra, Greta, Delia and Franny. In the rare moment that they are outside of their kitchen, the Holmes-Rule family can be found traveling to visit their families in Puerto Rico and Mid-Coast Maine, and, of course, taking any opportunity to share a meal with their loved ones.
